Focus on Chicago
Art
Travel Guide is pleased to provide our readers with
a Special Edition about Chicago. Chicago is our hometown, therefore
it is difficult to be unbiased, but Chicago is really one of the
best cities in America. The city is birthplace of modern architecture,
with an unparalleled skyline which can be seen from our beautiful
lakefront parks. The restaurant scene is legendary with some of
the top chefs in the country calling Chicago home. And of course,
Chicago boasts one of the largest and most vibrant cultural communities
anywhere. With dozens of museums, theaters, classical and contemporary
music venues, dance groups, galleries and public art sites; Chicago
enjoys an embarrassment of riches.
In this Special Edition, we highlight a new citywide cultural arts
event that takes place at the end of April, and encompasses a variety
of what Chicago has to offer.

Art
Chicago
April 27 30, 2007
The Merchandise Mart , Chicago The
anchor event for the week is Art Chicago, the modern
and contemporary art fair. Many may be surprised to
learn that Chicago is where America’s first international
contemporary art fair took place more than 25 years
ago. This is long before The Armory Show in New York
or Art Basel Miami Beach. This annual spring event has
gone through some ownership and name changes over the
years. Now under the The Merchandise Mart’s stewardship,
Art Chicago, is poised to regain its important status
on the international art fair circuit. This year the
fair has many important international galleries returning
after long absences, which guarantees the opportunity
to see and collect some world-class art. |
