New York, NY 10021
800.WHITNEY

The largest biennial of American art returns to the Whitney Museum of American Art in early March this year. To facilitate a broader spread of media, the Biennial is going to have ancillary performances, temporary installations and other events taking place at the Park Avenue Armory, mainly during the first 3 weeks of the exhibition. The Whitney Biennial has long been a survey of current trends in American contemporary art, but more established artists are regularly included as part of the dialogue. This year some of the better known artists include John Baldessari, Robert Bechtle, Sherrie Levine and Mary Heilmann. Spike Lee's documentary about the Hurricane Katrina destruction of New Orleans, "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts," will also be on view.
